Install from Chrome Web StoreAbout Virtue New Tab
Virtue New Tab replaces your browser's new tab page with a different virtue every time. Each tab brings you the virtue's name, its definition, its etymology (the origin and original meaning), a philosophical quote, and an affirmation for reflection.
The extension draws from a curated list of 120 virtues, gathered over twenty years of research at VirtueScience.com. There are no permissions required, no tracking, no account, and no advertising. The full list of virtues, their definitions, their etymologies, and the curated quotes all ship with the extension and are loaded locally from your own device.
Features
- 120 virtues, each with a full definition
- A detailed etymology for every virtue, tracing its origin and original meaning
- Curated quotes from philosophers, writers, and thinkers
- Affirmations to support reflection
- A generative pastel background, regenerated on demand
- Refresh any element independently: virtue, quote, affirmation, or background
- No tracking, no permissions, no account required

Have you used Virtue New Tab?
If the extension has added something to your day, a review on the Chrome Web Store genuinely helps. It supports the project and helps other people find it. Reviews on the store are visible to anyone considering installing, so they have far more impact than reviews left elsewhere.

Virtue New Tab is part of the wider research at VirtueScience.com, an independent project exploring virtues, character, and self-improvement since 2002. The site contains over two thousand pages on the virtues, conceptual science, esoterica, and related topics.
The extension is built and maintained by the same independent researcher and developer behind the site. If you have a question, a virtue suggestion, a correction, or want to say hello, the contact page is the best route. Every message is read personally.
