A Commentary on the 1008 Virtue Meditations
The 1008 Virtue Meditations, because it constantly changes, holds the attention. Whilst most people find it extremely difficult to concentrate for an hour, or even half an hour, everyone can concentrate for a few seconds.
All one has to do is to concentrate for a few seconds, repeat a phrase, briefly generate a feeling or "flash visualize" a positive image etc. Then before the mind wanders a fresh instruction appears before you, again attracting and engaging the attention. By this method the attention may be focussed on a variety of beneficial and healing ideas for a long period of time with out the need for strain or great powers of concentration.
Every brief flash of positive concentration is beneficial on it's own and supports and deepens the next flash. If you feel a closeness or feel there is special value for you in a particular meditation then remember it and focus on it for as many days as you feel appropriate.
