In the year 1054 AD Chinese astronomers noted the appearance of a guest star, the supernova now called the Crab Nebula Messier's M1; in the constellation Taurus.

"It appears from Dr. Hwang's research, that the petroglyphs on the canyon wall of the Big Deer Site show that the Sinagua (Anasazi Indians) Astronomers who were observing the "Crab nebula" from that site actually observed the Supernova on May 24, 1054 AD."
