Forgiveness: A Memoir
by Chiquis RiveraSearch for Chiquis Rivera
$16.00
$5.56 new/used

?I wrote this book not to dismiss a rumor but to share something much more important: my journey to forgiveness.?

Chiquis Rivera is a singer and the daughter of the late music superstar Jenni Rivera. In Forgiveness, her memoir, Chiquis bravely reveals the abuse she suffered at the hands of her father during her childhood and the difficulties she?s faced in her personal life as a result. Despite growing up marked by the wounds of abuse, she eventually conquered her fear of love andintimacy.

The story within these pages also recounts what caused the distance between her and her mother toward the end of Jenni?s life. In Forgiveness, Chiquis brings to light truths that she wishes she had been able to reveal to Jenni.

Two years after her mother?s death, Chiquis answers the most difficult questions: Was she able to make peace with Jenni? And in this story of triumph and tragedy, who is most in need of forgiveness?

Forgiveness: 21 Days to Forgive Everyone for Everything
by Iyanla VanzantSearch for Iyanla Vanzant
$17.95
$5.77 new/used

Too many of us feel trapped in stagnant romantic, family, or workplace relationships. Weighed down by toxic thoughts and emotions, we might be quick to judge and slow to pardon, and self-righteous about our feelings as we dwell on memories of what we or others did (or failed to do). In this new book and CD, Iyanla Vanzant challenges us to liberate ourselves from the wounds of the past and to embrace the new power of forgiveness.
With Iyanla?s 21-Day Forgiveness Plan, you?ll explore relationship dynamics with your parents, children, friends, partners, co-workers, bosses, yourself, and even God. With journaling work and Emotional Freedom Techniques (also known as ?tapping?), you?ll learn to live with more love; gain new clarity on your life, lessons, and blessings; and discover a new level of personal freedom, peace, and well-being.
Forgiveness doesn?t mean agreeing with, condoning, or even liking what has happened. Forgiveness means letting go and knowing that?regardless of how challenging, frightening, or difficult an experience may seem?everything is just as it needs to be in order for you to grow and learn. When you focus on how things ?should? be, you deny the presence and power of love. Accept the events of the past, while being willing to change your perspective on them.      As Iyanla says, ?Only forgiveness can liberate minds and hearts once held captive by anger, bitterness, resentment, and fear. Forgiveness is a true path to freedom that can renew faith, build trust, and nourish the soul.?

Forgiveness: Finding Peace Through Letting Go
by Adam HamiltonSearch for Adam Hamilton
$14.99
$5.40 new/used

"If your enemies are starving, feed them some bread; if they are thirsty, give them water to drink." Proverbs 24:17 (CEB)

There is nothing more crippling than holding on to anger. Anger, more than any other emotion, has the power to consume all aspects of our lives, distort our sense of purpose, and destroy our relationship with God.

In the passionate and life-changing book Forgiveness: Finding Peace Though Letting Go, bestselling author Adam Hamilton brings the same insight that he applied in the bestseller "Why?" to the challenge of forgiveness. Hamilton argues that revelation comes when we realize that forgiveness is a gift we give ourselves rather than to someone else. He also contends that only when we learn to forgive others and ourselves can we truly receive forgiveness from God.

?Adam Hamilton not only reminds us about the importance of reconnecting the broken pieces of our lives, but shows how the process of grace and forgiveness is possibly our most complete picture of God.?
--Shane Stanford, author of Making Life Matter: Embracing the Joy in the Everyday

?The heartbeat of the gospel is grace. With practical insight, Hamilton makes grace understandable--both for seeking and for granting forgiveness. I highly recommend this book.?
--Melody Carlson, author of Healing Waters: A Bible Study on Forgiveness, Grace, and Second Chances

?Adam Hamilton?s book offers clear guidance for believers struggling with the practical application of our biblical imperative to forgive. It is a must-read for both Christian counselors and every person who has something or someone to forgive.?
--Jennifer Cisney Ellers, author of The First 48 Hours: Spiritual Caregivers as First Responders

"Deeply rooted in the Bible?s testimony about God?s extravagant mercy, this fine little book explores the Christian call to practice both repentance and forgiveness in the image of God. Straightforward and practical, Hamilton vividly sketches the habits of the heart that discipleship requires in our daily relationships with spouses and intimate life partners, family members, friends and strangers."
--Patricia Beattie Jung, Professor of Christian Ethics, Saint Paul School of Theology

Forgiveness: The Greatest Healer of All
by Gerald G. JampolskySearch for Gerald G. Jampolsky
$15.00
$0.01 new/used

This is a small book with a big message: if people are to heal themselves and learn to live with each other in love and harmony, forgiveness must become as important and regular as breathing. The first chapter offers powerful stories chosen to open the reader's heart to the idea of forgiveness. Subsequent chapters explain why so many individuals find it so difficult to forgive, and why holding onto grievances is really a decision to suffer. He describes the causes of being unforgiving, how the mind works in this process, and the ultimate negative effects this attitude can exert on one's body and life in general.

Written in direct, accessible language, the book approaches its subject from a practical standpoint rather than a psychological or religious one.

Forgiveness is a Choice: A Step-by-Step Process for Resolving Anger and Restoring Hope
by Robert D. EnrightSearch for Robert D. Enright
$19.95
$15.65 new/used

A self-help text for people who have been deeply hurt by another and caught in a vortex of anger, depression and resentment. Robert D. Enright shows how forgiveness can reduce anxiety and depression while increasing self-esteem and hopefulness toward one's future. The volume demonstrates how forgiveness, approached in the correct manner, benefits the forgiver far more than the forgiven, and seeks to lead the reader on a path that will bring clarity and peace. Enright is careful to distinguish forgiveness from ""pseudoforgiveness"", and to reassure readers that forgiveness does not mean accepting continued abuse or even reconciling with the offender. Rather, by giving the gift of forgiveness, readers are encouraged to confront and let go of their pain in order to regain their lives.

The Book of Forgiving: The Fourfold Path for Healing Ourselves and Our World
by Desmond Tutu, Mpho Tutu
$15.99
$7.02 new/used

Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Nobel Peace Prize winner, Chair of The Elders, and Chair of South Africa?s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, along with his daughter, the Reverend Mpho Tutu, offer a manual on the art of forgiveness?helping us to realize that we are all capable of healing and transformation.

Tutu's role as the Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission taught him much about forgiveness. If you asked anyone what they thought was going to happen to South Africa after apartheid, almost universally it was predicted that the country would be devastated by a comprehensive bloodbath. Yet, instead of revenge and retribution, this new nation chose to tread the difficult path of confession, forgiveness, and reconciliation.

Each of us has a deep need to forgive and to be forgiven. After much reflection on the process of forgiveness, Tutu has seen that there are four important steps to healing: Admitting the wrong and acknowledging the harm; Telling one's story and witnessing the anguish; Asking for forgiveness and granting forgiveness; and renewing or releasing the relationship. Forgiveness is hard work. Sometimes it even feels like an impossible task. But it is only through walking this fourfold path that Tutu says we can free ourselves of the endless and unyielding cycle of pain and retribution. The Book of Forgiving is both a touchstone and a tool, offering Tutu's wise advice and showing the way to experience forgiveness. Ultimately, forgiving is the only means we have to heal ourselves and our aching world.
