Quotes

"Bright happiness is the happiness beyond happiness and unhappiness. Everyone wants happiness, joy, bliss etc. everyone wants the same thing. But because many don’t know the path to real happiness, they find it in wrong things. Gamblers find happiness in gambling, drunker in alcohol. Such happiness is always temporary. The only way to permanent happiness is attaining final truth. If you want, you get it. And for this what is required is understanding."

"You mistake the words of Truth, as Truth"

Pope Francis and the Joy of the Gospel: Rediscovering the Heart of a Disciple
by Edward SriSearch for Edward Sri
$9.95
$5.92 new/used

"I invite all Christians, everywhere, at this very moment, to a renewed personal encounter with Jesus Christ."-Pope Francis, Evangelii Gaudium

The call of Christ to each of us is as heart-stopping as the moment captured by Caravaggio in his painting, The Call of St. Matthew. Jesus points, he invites-and Matthew the tax-collector must make a decision. "The Lord does not disappoint those who take that risk" and choose him, Pope Francis tells us in his Apostolic Exhortation, The Joy of the Gospel.

Dr. Edward Sri, theologian, author, and speaker, unpacks The Joy of the Gospel, making it accessible and actionable. In these brief reflections Sri explores those things that hold us back, how we can open ourselves to God's love, and the difference this can make to our joyful proclamation of the Gospel.
Pope Francis and the Joy of the Gospel reminds us that when life weighs us down, "the Lord is already there, waiting for us with open arms."

Great for use by individuals or groups, each chapter concludes with questions for reflection or discussion, moving readers further into a renewed personal relationship with Christ.

Sri Jagannatha Ratha-yatra
by Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami MaharajaSearch for Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Gosvami Maharaja

'?r? Jagann?tha Ratha-y?tr?' is bound to take one?s appreciation of Ratha-y?tr? to new heights, beyond the thrill of an extraordinary cultural or religious experience. Annually, in Pur?, India, approximately a million people attend the ancient Ratha-y?tr? festival, to take dar?ana of Lord Jagann?tha on His chariot, and at least three times that view it from other places in India and around the world. Still, the deep significance of Ratha-y?tr?, being most confidential, is not widely known. '?r? Jagann?tha Ratha-y?tr?' is rich with this significance, offering an invaluable Gau??ya Vai??ava perspective of this wonderful event. The book contains three separate ancient histories of Ratha-y?tr? as well as an elaborate description of ?r? Caitanya Mah?prabhu?s inner moods during the festival.

The basis of this book is 'The Origin of Ratha-y?tr?', a transcription of ?r?la Bhaktived?nta N?r?ya?a Gosv?m? Mah?r?ja?s English lectures, but because a written review and translation (into Hindi) of one?s spoken word will naturally contain intensified focus and greater detail, as well as elaboration and omissions, '?r? Jagann?tha Ratha-y?tr?' is a new presentation of this subject. Due to ?r?la Mah?r?ja?s deep immersion in the beautiful moods of ?r? Caitanya Mah?prabhu, it is not surprising that his revelation of ?r? Ratha-y?tr? is also suffused with this sublime sweetness and deep philosophical truths.

The Holy Science

2013 Reprint of 1949 Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. Yukteshwar was an educator, astronomer, a Jyotisha (Vedic astrologer), a yogi, and a believer in the Bhagavad Gita and the Bible. He was a disciple of Lahiri Mahasaya of Varanasi and a member of the Giri branch of the swami order. Yogananda considered Yukteswar as Jnanavatar, or "Incarnation of Wisdom". Yukteswar wrote "The Holy Science" in 1894. In the introduction, he wrote: "The purpose of this book is to show as clearly as possible that there is an essential unity in all religions; that there is no difference in the truths inculcated by the various faiths; that there is but one method by which the world, both external and internal, has evolved; and that there is but one Goal admitted by all scriptures." The work introduced many ideas that were revolutionary for the time - for instance Yukteswar broke from Hindu tradition in stating that the earth is not in the age of Kali Yuga, but has advanced to Dwapara Yuga. His proof was based on a new perspective of the precession of the equinoxes. He also introduced the idea that the sun takes a 'star for its dual', and revolves around it in a period of 24,000 years, which accounts for the precession of the equinox.

Ramana Maharshi was one of the most significant spiritual teachers to emerge from India during the first half of the century, and remains widely admired. This recent collection of conversations between him and the many seekers who came to his ashram for guidance contains the essence of his teaching. His concern throughout his long life of imparting his experience to others was to convince his listeners that self-realisation - or enlightenment - is not an alien or mysterious state, but the natural condition of man. This state can be easily discovered by undertaking the self-investigation clearly described in these talks. The lucid instructions to each section provide further illumination of this greater seer's message.
